Denver Broncos security Justin Simmons was flagged for a late hit on Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo within the first half of an AFC West matchup Sunday.
However Simmons contended Wednesday the hit was authorized, and he was flagged on the play due to Garoppolo’s “nice appearing.”
Garoppolo wanted to be cleared to return to the sport and later threw a landing move to Jakobi Meyers. Las Vegas gained the sport, 17-16.
NFL followers debated on-line whether or not Simmons truly hit Garoppolo as Frank Clark dragged him down. The defensive again mentioned he noticed a video.
“I assume nice appearing on Jimmy’s finish,” Simmons mentioned. “But when I get a high quality … I feel anybody who watches that clip can inform there was no pressure with the helmet. I hit his shoulder pad with my elbow, and I feel the remainder of what I used to be aiming for, I ended up hitting both his again or Frank.
“These kinds of performs are so bang-bang, important third down. I’m not likely certain how shut the yardage was in actual time. I don’t make the principles, however I don’t suppose it was high quality worthy. If it was, I’m certain we’ll do a very good job with the enchantment to that.”
The Broncos play the Washington Commanders this week.
The Commanders eked out a win over the Arizona Cardinals of their season opener.
